About the Artist
Born in Brazil and based in Paris, biologist and neuroscientist Luciana Bonnot speaks the language of nature through her artwork. Years spent with microscopes and magnetic resonance remain vivid in her mind as colors, movement, and unusual forms — a way to make visible what the mind feels but struggles to express.
Here, the noisy MRI scans and cold laboratories give way to delicate washes of watercolor, creating surfaces that reward slow observation, much like the brain images she spent years deciphering. Bold strokes on porcelain bring life into view — translated into cells, tissues, and organs.
She paints in her studio outside Paris, in the bucolic town of Brunoy, a peaceful contrast to her previous life in the relentless city of São Paulo, Brazil. Her influences? A mix of Brazilian energy with traces of everything her curious mind has absorbed along the way.
